DARE Scheme Ireland

The DARE (Disability Access Route to Education) scheme in Ireland is a program designed to help students with disabilities, including those with an attention deficit diagnosis like ADHD, get into college.

It gives students a better chance of getting into courses by offering reduced points on their Leaving Certificate, the final school exams in Ireland.

How DARE Benefits Students with Attention Deficit Diagnosis:

Easier Access to College: Students with ADHD often find exams and studying challenging. The DARE scheme recognizes these difficulties and offers lower points requirements, making it easier for them to get into their chosen courses.

Support Services: Once accepted through DARE, students can access extra support in college, such as study skills workshops, extra time in exams, quiet spaces to study, and other resources tailored to their needs.

Level Playing Field: The scheme aims to level the playing field, recognizing that students with ADHD may face challenges that others don’t, and helps them overcome these barriers to succeed in higher education.

DARE is all about making sure students with ADHD and other disabilities have the same opportunities as everyone else to achieve their educational goals!
